Burger Brawl
The inaugural competition to see who can whip up the best burger inspired dish in downtown. Takes place Jan. 15 – Feb. 15, 2024.
Signature Cocktail Showdown!
Looking to embrace the cozy flavors of fall? To celebrate the long-awaited cooler temperatures, Downtown Abilene is thrilled to present the Signature Cocktail Showdown- a fun and flavorful event that brings the community together for a taste of fall!
St. Patrick's Day Street Party
Join Grain Theory for their annual St. Patrick’s Day Party on North 2nd street in Downtown, Abilene! Bring your friends, family, and your best leprechaun spirit as we paint the town green in honor of St. Patrick himself. Don’t miss out on the craic!
Children's Art & Literacy Festival
The second weekend of each June, Abilene’s downtown streets fill with children, families, costumed characters, tourists, food trucks, music, art and more during the annual festival. Each year, CALF hosts a children’s book illustrator in conjunction with the exhibition at the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature.
Abilene Beer Summit
A one-day craft brew experience featuring more than 125 beer flavors from more than 40 breweries. A general pass gets guests 10 beer samples chosen from all participating brew masters, along with live music all afternoon. VIP passes give beer lovers access to a special VIP area, more sampling, exclusive brews to taste, party swag, and catered food. Proceeds benefit New Horizons, a home for children. Typically held in September of each year.
Oktoberfest
Grab your lederhosen, and dust off your dirndl and head to Grain Theory in downtown Abilene for Oktoberfest. Enjoy live music, delicious German street food, games, and other fun, and of course, their signature Grain Theory Brews for you to celebrate Oktoberfest.
The Nutcracker
Abilene Ballet Theatre presents its annual production of “The
Nutcracker” at the Paramount Theatre each November to
usher in Abilene’s dreamy holiday season. Perhaps it is all a
dream for Clara, who receives a magical nutcracker at her
family’s Christmas party and is transported into another world.
Following a battle between scurrying mice, soldiers and her
Nutcracker hero in her living room under a giant Christmas
tree, Clara is transported through a snowy forest to the
Land of the Sweets, where she is greeted by dancing
characters from all over the world. Don’t miss this beloved
holiday classic!
Christmas in the Garden
The Adamson-Spalding Storybook Garden is decorated
with twinkling Christmas lights and holiday decorations. Put
on your pajamas and join us for a special family night of fun
with Santa Claus, book readings, costumed characters, art
activities and live music and entertainment.
City Sidewalks and FOX West Texas Christmas Lights Parade
